"The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others."

GANDHI

Volunteer Service

Two areas I am extremely passionate about are canines and environmental conservation, and I try to devote as much of my free time to both. The experiences below have provided me with invaluable connections to both people and animals, and I look forward to serving my community for as long as I can.

Give Forks

In 2019, I began an initiative on Earth Day to help bring awareness to plastic waste, and offered Mount Sinai staff within the oncology department free stainless steel cutlery to help replace single-use plastic utensils. I provided information on plastic waste at giveforks.org, and gave away 216 pieces of stainless steel cutlery.

ASPCA National Field Response Volunteer

I am a certified National Field Response (NFR) team member for the ASPCA, providing aid in large scale operations such as puppy mill, dog fighting, and hoarding raids, and assist strays during large scale environmental disasters. I have been deployed several times to aide in massive rescue operations.

Dog Walker & Volunteer Mentor

I volunteered weekly to help walk and enrich dogs sheltered at the Animal Care Center of NYC (ACC).
The ACC is one of the largest animal welfare organizations in the country and takes in more than 25,000 animals each year.

Mexican Gray Wolf Conservation

I was a volunteer at the California Wolf Center in Julian, CA, which is North America’s 3rd largest Mexican Gray wolf recovery center. This volunteer experience allowed me to  understand the intricate workings behind the conservation of an endangered species: from the importance of their genetic variability to  simple daily routines to preserve their wild nature. I helped conduct educational tours, wolf enrichment experiments, participated in wolf  husbandry and feedings, provided administrative help, and edited both corporate and scientific documents.

Dog Shelter Fundraising Coordinator

Montreal’s Underdog Club was an agency that promoted dogs that were hard to adopt. I organized fundraisers in May and December 2011 at popular bars in Montreal. I also updated website information for new and existing dogs, and wrote monthly columns in The Westmount  Independent newspaper profiling various dogs for adoption.
